Window Adorned With Holly

Cold and rainy here today as for most of the summer so I went through photos to clean up and found another image from a photoshoot I did awhile ago with Holly. One of my favourites I haven't posted. E-5 art filter- pinhole setting used.

All About Friends

This is a photo that is part of a series of images that is being used by Rubicon Publishing (part of Scholastic Education) in the early stages of the development of a new book aimed at struggling readers at an intermediate grade level. The stories will be published in their Turtle Island Press. Once the product is reviewed by a board including aboriginal educators I will get the final word on the which images they want for the final publishing. Yellow Snow Photography is a non-profit organization that directly funds experiential learning programs (like their photo journalling using Olympus cameras) at Denetia School in Lower Post, B.C.. This year the funds from photography fees will fund Android E Pads (tablet PC's) for each student to use for e-reading and other personalized interactive learning applications that will be installed on them as well as mountains bikes and helmuts and cover the cost of the Sprockids Cycling Program.
For more information on Rubicon Publishing go to www.rubiconpublishing.com . For more information on YSP go to YellowSnowPhotography.blogspot.com . For more information on Denetia School go to denetia.wikispaces.com Tax deductible receipts will be given for donations made by cheque to Denetia School. "I'll Hide Behind The Flower"
I love wildlife and as much as I try not to take the frequent encounters for granted I must admit I get spoiled. I had fun with this healthy bear as he paused to hide behind this flower... :P

Dinner Time
I was sharing a lake today with a moose, three beavers, a pair of loons, a couple of bison and this black bear... only can happen in the Yukon/B.C. border area... :) Oh yeah also shared the lake with a disgusting leach that hitched a ride home and teaches me a lesson for skinny dipping. I will leave it to your imagination where I discovered it... to my horror... :P

Summer Project #1
On the day school was out for me I took apart my old dog run and moved it into the woods and added 10 10ft panels to it making an polygon enclosure of 1600 sq ft. The dogs will now have trees to shade them and can make paths around the wild rose bushes. Atthe end of summer I will add a few more panels to make safe zone for injured dogs or strays waiting to be adopted. I will be registering as a non-profit charity and once I do that will make a website with a paypal feature for donations to help me cover costs of dogfood vet etc. The dogs are a life saver for me and love the kids at school as they are used on trail walks as a bear guard and in winter for dogsledding. Skulls of horse and moose were collected on walks with the woof pack.
A series of images at flickr link to enjoy.

Aphrodite's Summer
The lazy days of summer warm
In the land of the midnight sun
Leaves enriched with her blood
Thankful for this life anew
The summer solstice is her dance
As she looks upon the lucky few
Dreams and desires alive again
Until we can dance no more
The charmed life of dreams
The leaves, the wind
Aphrodite's Summer.
