On The Alaska Highway

My now 11 yr old daughter took this shot as we travelled to Whitehorse for some ultrasound tests for dad. Her brother was reading in the back. They joined me a their mom had to work so the three of us had a fast overnight trip into the "big city" the highway had a mudslide and a complete washout near swift river and the road was repaired remarkedly quickly. The washout evidence was amazing and the YTG road crews are to be lauded for their great work at the reopening of the highway. This highway is our lifeline for goods and services. Medical trips to do follow up tests are a fact of life with our small hospital in Watson only serving as an emergency center. The trip included getting some tropical fish for Sieera's fish tank that she recieved on her June 20th birthday, two point and shoot cameras (Olympus of course) for my P.I.T.s (photographers in training) , and a (new for me) saddle, saddle pad bridle, bit, and accessories for Sage. The trip to Whitehorse takes 4 to 5 hrs depending on how urgent you are and if you stop for wildlife shots or road construction.
