Bird Feeder This Morning

A female downy woodpecker feeding on my lard suet sprinkled with sunflower seeds. The other side of feeder has a brief visit by a Redpoll . Later in video you can see a female Pine Grosbeak. The video was shot with my e-5 on tripod with some refocisng. The airwaves are from the heat coming from my open patio window I was filming through. -25 C this morning made this a nicely timed visit when I thought I would try this from the comfort of my living room.

Highway 37 The Cassiar

More of a backroad than a highway but it is well maintained in winter. Reviewing old images on St. Patrick's Day as I am green with the flu/cold. Enjoy a pint for me.

Carving A Wave

Fun day at the hill patrolling on day that went to -25 C in morning then to -10 C. Perfect for RBC Young Riders clinic/competition. More work as patroller/photographer than patroller/skier as afterwards did jump, rail and carving photos with riders. Great conditions when I did ski.

Passing Lane

Some people are stuck in the passing lane in life never wanting to stop and enjoy life. This trucker didn't see the point of me stopping on the Alaska Highway to look at the feeding moose just before the Weigh Station in Watson Lake, Yukon. After all ... wildlife on or near the highway is a daily occurance up here... I still try not to take nature for granted.

Firs t Time Ski-Jorring

I had a a good time today with Yarrow as we both learned to skijor... I am not the best xc-skier as it is so fell a few times.. but the more you fall the more you learn. In this video yarrow settled into a steady pulling pace as we went by Aunt Eva one of Lower Post's loved elders as she was walking home. She giggled when she saw that I was being pulled.

What Woke Me Up at 3 A.M.

I care about these horses that are neglected by their owner but I wish they wouldn't wake up my dogs in the middle of the night when they are scrounging for bird seed. The dogs bark like crazy and then they won't stop until iI get out of bed to chase off the horses to go wander somewhere else on the reserve. Image is from a few days ago.

My Classroom

I believe in experiential education and being outside as much as possible. During the week we xc-ski, snow-shoe, and have photo-walks. We alpine ski on Fridays for a few months and soon in a few weeks will be switching to Trapping/ice-fishing and dogsledding in our long winter that lasts until the end of April. Here Pastor Rob the Anglican priest skis with the girls of Denetia School.

Life Is A Highway

About 50 km north of Dease Lake, British Columbia as I head north to go back home after meetings to plan a Student Leadership Camp in the fall for the school district.
